October 15 Update
Burnsville Senior Center Weekly  Update                        (Oct. 15, 2020)   #26

Good morning, this is Michele Starkey and I am the Coordinator of the Burnsville Senior Center and this is my Thursday morning update call in an email format.

Fall is in the air.  You can feel it and smell it and it kinda makes me worry about where the summer actually went. Things are so busy I can hardly recall the summer. The one thing we cannot forget is that we are in the middle of a pandemic, which is SO not fun.  As I worry about what that kind of isolation and worry do to us as human beings, I am reminded that it does help to get up each morning and simply think of ONE thing you are grateful for. You may have to look far and wide but there is ALWAYS something...so ask yourself – what am I grateful for today?

A reminder - you must pre-register for everything here at the Burnsville Senior Center. We are here to help and answering the phones M – F from 9 am – 430 pm.  You can reach us at  952-707-4120.

The MDC – Monthly Dining Club cards are finally here. They are $25 again this year & good each month for 138 different businesses and restaurants south of the river.

A BIG thank you to everyone who has donated to the BSC Annual Giving Campaign.  That is just one of the things I am grateful for – you and your ongoing support of this senior center.

Free COVID-19 tests are available call 612-223-8838 for an appt. They are scheduling appointments on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The Be A Santa to A Senior program is a program we do every holiday season. This program is specifically for seniors who are isolated during the holidays, so if you know of a senior, perhaps a friend or a neighbor who might benefit from a little holiday cheer – call us and nominate them for this program.  We will also ask about gift suggestions at that time to personalize their goodies.

Fare For All will return on Wednesday Oct. 28 from 2 – 5 pm as a drive thru fashion on the WEST side of the building so please use Pleasant Avenue to access.

The One91 Community Pantry is a no cost food alternative held here at DEC Center the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of every month from 3 – 430 pm.  Upcoming dates are: October 20 from 3 – 430 pm and the final produce date is Oct 22 from 3 – 430 pm. Lower level lot, outside door #11.

So, did you figure out what you can be thankful for today?  A breath of fresh air, a call from a friend, a good cup of coffee or perhaps this phone message. I am grateful to share this call with you and thankful you have had the time to listen.  Remember to wear your mask - we want you to stay safe, stay well and stay connected.

Enjoy your week.

Goodbye
