October 8 Phone Update

Burnsville Senior Center Weekly Update                             (Oct. 8, 2020)   #25

Good morning, Michele Starkey, the Coordinator of the Burnsville Senior Center.  If you are getting this message, it is because you have a telephone number associated with the Burnsville Senior Center and this is my weekly update call.

What a crazy week – huh?  There has certainly been a bit more…something in the air and it’s making us all a little more sensitive.  Someone close to me is needing to have a COVID test this afternoon.  That kinda makes me a little crazy.  It reminds me how vulnerable we all are and the importance of simply just being nice to one another. But you know what, some days you just want to put a big ole’ OUT OF ORDER sticker on your forehead and call it a day right?

The MDC – Monthly Dining Club cards are finally here and goin’ like hotcakes!  They are $25 again this year & good each month for 138 different businesses and restaurants south of the river.

A shout out to those of you who have already donated to our Annual Giving Campaign.  We REALLY appreciate and thank you for your ongoing support of the BSC – it means alot.

If you or someone you know would like to get a free COVID-19 test, you can call 612-223-8838 for an appt.  They are scheduling appointments on Weds, Sats and Suns.

The Be A Santa to A Senior program is a program we do every holiday season.  This program is specifically for seniors who are isolated during the holidays, so if you know of a senior, perhaps a friend or a neighbor who might benefit from a little holiday cheer – call us and nominate them for this program.  We will also ask about gift suggestions at that time to personalize their goodies.

Fare For All will return on Wednesday Oct. 28 from 2 – 5 pm.  This will be done in a drive thru fashion on the WEST side of the building so please use Pleasant Avenue to access.
The One91 Community Pantry is a no cost food alternative held here at DEC Center the 1st & 3rd Tuesday of every month from 3 – 430pm.  Upcoming dates are: October 20 from 3 – 4:30pm and the produce dates are today & Oct 22 from 3 – 4:30pm. Lower level lot, outside door #11.

Just a reminder - you must pre-register for everything happening at the Burnsville Senior Center.  We are here to help and answering the phones M – F from 9am – 430pm.  You can reach us at   952-707-4120.

It is glorious outside this week.  Get out if you dare, check out those changing leaves and the color – it’s actually very special this year.  And please remember to wear your mask - we want you to stay safe, stay well and stay connected.
