|April 24, 2020 Chatter Update|
This week we would have celebrated National Volunteer Week with a waffle brunch for all the hard work the Burnsville Senior Center volunteers provide. Just a note, that work does not go unnoticed. I cannot begin to thank you enough for all the many things you do. Even at this time, volunteers in Burnsville just continue to shine. I owe each of you a waffle loaded with goodness and I can hardly wait.
This newsletter is not the only technology I am working on. I have learned how to do ZOOM meetings. That's not Zumba, but it's almost as much work without the background music. And I can make it appear as though I am on a warm, deserted island - which some days is not that far from the truth. And I am getting pretty good at hanging out in Google Hang Outs. Most of the people I meet there are very nice, they are generally coworkers and colleagues. No new friends yet, but we will see what the future holds. And I have to admit I have done a virtual "Happy Hour". It was almost as much fun, much cheaper and the drive home did not concern me - at all! Maybe there are lessons to be learned during all this craziness.
Enjoy your weekend and remember to: Stay home, stay safe, stay well, and stay connected.

The Burnsville Senior Center remains closed until further notice. Yesterday the Governor ordered that schools will not reopen this school year. Because we are also a "vulnerable" population, we will be considering what that means and how it applies to our setting.
The Senior Center telephone 952-707-4120 is answered Monday - Friday from 9 am - noon for any questions, concerns or needs you might have.
We continue to work on creating online classes and opportunities.
Wednesdays in the Park are still being discussed as an option with respect to appropriate social distancing.
